They didn't invest in your company? A process of elimination:

When they decide not to invest in your company
The deals that survive this initial culling process are subjected to much greater scrutiny and due diligence. This process includes a thorough review of the deck, financial statements and projections; discussions with the founders, customers and other investors; and a review of third-party information relevant to the company, its product, and industry. Companies are eliminated from further consideration during various stages of this process and, in the end, they ultimately invest in a small percentage of the deals reviewed.

When deciding not to invest in a company, the VC always take the time to explain to the founders the reasons for the decision. The purpose of this article is to provide a review of the most common reasons why this VC choose not to invest in companies in hopes that some founders will find it helpful in improving their chances of raising capital.

Like most VCs, we see dozens of deals each week. We've developed a funnel that enables us to quickly eliminate those that don't fit our general investment criteria. On the Rise: Digital Nomads—

Jobs For People Who Would Rather Travel For a Living Than Ever Pay Rent
Article by Evie Carrick via Free Vice

We all have that friend (or guilty Instagram follow) who seems to be constantly traveling.
They post photos working poolside in Bali one day and hiking in Laos the next. Chances are they’ve joined the growing army of digital nomads, or people who work remotely from coffee shops and workspaces around the globe in order to fund a nomadic, travel-heavy lifestyle.

This all may sound too good to be true, but the lifestyle is real.
Nearly five million Americans describe themselves as digital nomads, meaning they both work and travel remotely, according to technology firm MBO Partners. One in six say they earn $75,000 or more a year but a majority earn less than $10,000 annually—and to most digital nomads, this doesn’t matter much. When you’re traveling in countries with a low cost of living, you can make less money, work fewer hours, and still enjoy a higher quality of life. Places like Bali, Vietnam, and Colombia offer the right mixture of affordability, modern conveniences, and reliable Wi-Fi.

Setting up an emergency fund and figuring out how much money you’ll need to make each month is only part of it; you’ll need to find freelance work that fits your skill set and covers your costs. To get you started we’ve compiled the skinny on 10 common digital nomad jobs.

These jobs provide the cash and flexibility needed to live life as a digital nomad.

“What do you do?”— be unforgettable (in a good way!)

'If you can move beyond the boring basics when you’re asked “What do you do?”, you’ll set yourself up for new relationships, opportunities and revelations.'— Joanna Bloor

Mingling at a work event inevitably means being asked the question:
“What do you do?” over and over again. After years of repetition and conditioning, most of us respond with “I’m job title X at company Y.” And while this is the answer people expect, it’s also likely to linger in your new acquaintance’s mind only until it’s replaced by what the next person says to them.

'You are not just your job'
“Answering with your title and company is the cultural norm. But when you do, you’re missing out on an opportunity for the other person to know who you actually are. You are not just your job,” says Joanna Bloor, CEO of Amplify Labs. She specializes in helping people discover and articulate what makes them distinctive so that they can form deeper connections with others.

It all starts with how you introduce yourself
When you get your introduction right, the opportunity is not only to genuinely connect with people, but you’ll also be allowed to do the work you really want to do. Be warned: crafting your intro takes a bit of time and effort. But as the world of work continues to change in ways we can’t anticipate, knowing what sets you apart from the pack is crucial. Here, Bloor tell us how you can come up with your new response to “What do you do?”— Go beyond your title. These Ideas Are Worth Sharing:

How to introduce yourself so you'll be unforgettable (in a good way!)

Farmers: The Ultimate Entrepreneurs — 'this is personal'

Farm-Born Values
Farmers, the ultimate entrepreneurs:
managing complex businesses on their own when the odds are often stacked against them.
FBN strives to have the same values and work ethic as the farmer entrepreneurs in the network. Many FBN team members are farmers, grew up on farms, or have a deep connection to the land, so this is personal.

Conceived by Farmers, Built by Innovators, and Improved Together

The FBN Network came about when farmers wanted to develop an independent, unbiased, and objective farmer-driven information source — no marketing fluff, just the facts on raw performance. They knew that if they could share their agronomic precision data with one another, they could all make better decisions on seeds and agronomic.

Working together, they knew they could learn vastly more than by looking only at just their own farms, thereby unlocking the true power of the precision farm data they’d paid for.

These farmers wanted objective information on seeds, fertility, soils and dreamed of what might be discovered scientifically from having more data. They wanted transparency and to be treated fairly in the market. They wanted to build a company that reflected their values and truly put them, the farmers, first.

When these innovative farmers met with technologists, scientists, and entrepreneurs, this dream become a reality — Farmers Business Network  SM. At every point along the way, the FBN team has listened closely to its earliest farmers and dozens of farmer advisors to make sure the network is building a future of farming that truly puts Farmers First.

What started as the dream of a handful of farmers in 2014 spread to a network of thousands of America’s best farmers managing over 8 million acres in just two years. As each new farmer joins the FBN Network, every member’s seed information, agronomic analytics, and buying power gets stronger. When farmers connect, farmers win - and the services, technology, and network keep growing.

Outstanding companies are built by outstanding people.
The FBN team goes to work every day to ensure American farmers stay profitable while they feed the world. Want to Work for Farmers Business Network?
